KOMBO® concrete elements are an interesting alternative to steel, aluminium and wooden spans. Their shapes and sizes allow them to be combined in many ways, giving the fence an extremely effective and modern appearance. Concrete shapes can also be used to create unusual architectural solutions, such as balcony or terrace railings, wall inserts, walls and borders.

Concrete fence span - advantages

Concrete is known for its durability and easy maintenance, which is why it is ideal for the construction of a durable and aesthetically pleasing fence. Spans created from KOMBO® concrete elements have many advantages:

  • Reliability, stability and long life: concrete is the most durable and versatile building material;
  • Simplicity of construction: the assembly of the elements can be undertaken by anyone with a little talent for renovation and construction work;
  • Optimum installation costs (if professionals are employed);
  • An attractive purchase price compared to other spans (e.g. metal, wood or aluminium);
  • Concrete spans can be combined with any type of gate and wicket;
  • Variety of original solutions: KOMBO® elements can be used to create not only modern openwork fences, but also balustrades, walls, railings, etc;
  • The original appearance of the concrete shapes, which blends perfectly with other materials used in the design of the surroundings.

What elements does the KOMBO® system consist of?

The KOMBO® system consists, at base, of three elements: SEA, TIDE and caps.

The elements vary in length, but can be combined with each other to create various and unique compositions, both in horizontal and vertical patterns. This makes it possible to create many combinations, thanks to which the span, as well as the entire fence, will acquire an individual character. The KOMBO® system also includes a canopy in its range of products, which can be installed after the completion of the SEA and TIDE elements. The cap, in addition to its aesthetic function, also acts as a stabiliser for the infill structure.

All three elements are available in grey, graphite and white.

Assembly instructions for KOMBO® system components

  • As the concrete inserts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, they can be combined in many ways. When doing so, it is important to remember that the vertical infill should only consist of one layer of the same elements (SEA only or TIDE only). For horizontal constructions, the shaped pieces can be stacked on top of each other. There is also the possibility of overlapping, where each element is staggered by half its length. In this case, half elements are also required. It is recommended that the length of the infill should not exceed 3 metres.
  • When erecting the fence, it is advisable that the work of gluing the blocks and installing the spans is carried out simultaneously. This will eliminate any errors at the design or construction stage and significantly improve working comfort.
  • Regardless of the method of laying, a stage that cannot be omitted is the gluing of KOMBO® spans. Glue should be applied at the places where the elements join with each other and at the contact points with the posts and foundation.
  • When the spans are made entirely of KOMBO® elements, it is advisable to additionally anchor them to the posts with a chemical anchor.

FAQs

Is it possible to impregnate KOMBO® elements?

KOMBO® elements, as well as other concrete elements, can be impregnated.

JONIEC® impregnates are recommended for this purpose. In the case of graphite and white colours, it is ideal to use a colour impregnate. It will protect the surface of concrete elements and significantly enliven their colour.

When our choice falls on KOMBO® in grey, we can use other impregnates, such as PROTECT, MASTER, or hydrophobic.

Their choice depends on the desired visual effect.

What type of fencing will concrete spans fit into?

A variety of assembly methods and the number of combinations in which the elements of the system can be arranged makes this solution suitable for both modern modular fences and classic split-rail fences.

SEA and TIDE elements - can they be cut?

Due to the possibility of damage, we do not recommend cutting the system components. The only exception to this is if the final dimensions do not correspond to the dimensions stated in the pre-invoice.

Are KOMBO® spans attractively priced?

Given the price increases in the steel and aluminium markets, concrete spans stand out from other materials with their low price and short lead times.

Is the installation of spans problematic?

If the pre-measured and measured dimensions of the fence coincide, the installation of KOMBO® element spans is simple and trouble-free. The instruction available on the manufacturer's website, in which the process is discussed step by step, is also helpful.

KOMBO ® elements make it possible to create unconventional structures. The spans built from them meet the requirements for the durability of the fence and ensure privacy within the property. They are also an indicator of original design, which fits in with contemporary architecture.
